The Blue's from Ontario

Hi Folks

I am writing this because my 10 year-old son asked me recently about his family tree for school. I knew where to turn to! This website!

In 2001/2 when became interested in my history I found Sarah Bitter. She said I was one of "us". I got entranced in my ancestry in the early 2000's. Then I found this site and Sarah let us know of the reunion. I told my family. So, we attended with my grandfather, father and family at

the reunion in Romney. We drove down! Blue Rock, the cemetery with too many Blue names, but most importantly that warm, welcoming lady with the magnificent Magnolia tree.

Growing up in Ontario, Canada my surname was unique. Very few of us, none actually. No relations in my town. My Dad was from from the next county over. So it was only one "Blue" family!

I knew my Grandpa Coy was born in Kentucky and moved to Ontario as a young boy. However I never knew why. Then I heard the stories of the migration up to Ontario and why my great-grandparents (Edgar & Bertha) did. There were hard times in the 1920's. They came from Slaughters, Kentucky. Tobacco farmers looking to find a home here in Ontario to raise their 4 boys. Ed, A.O., Coy & Bobbie. That they did. Two went back to the States. Two stayed in Ontario. One of the two, my dad's dad, the man I knew who would always find something to do with me, MY GRANDPA always made me feel special!

I do a lot of things today the same way I learned from him!

Proud to be a Blue!

Hi Ryan. Great to hear from a cousin across the border! Have you found your Blue ancestors in the Dutch Genealogy section of our website? If not, let me know and I can help with that. I come from the Blew's that migrated from NJ to the anthracite coal region of PA [Schuylkill County] and haven't wandered too far from there :). Best, Ted.
