I was born and grew up in Romney but have not been in acouple of years. Many things may have changed. One of our members Ephraim Herriott, we were inschool together, and one of the Blue family, lives in Springfield, WVa just 9 miles from Romney and he is a wealth of knowledge. A few years ago when the reunion was held in Romney, he hosted it and gave talk about the Blues. It included maps, and the Blue cemeteries including Indian Mound Cemetery in Romney a tour to the Blue Bridge and HangingRock. On main street in Romney, it is a very small town, there is a original log cabin restored, and it is beside of the Library. Contact the Library to see if its is open to tourists. It was lived in while I was living there. There is a book published titled THE DEVASTAING HAND OF WAR BY DR. RICHARD SAUERS which covers Romney during the Civil War. also another book HANGING ROCK REBEL covers Lt. John Blues war in WVA. It was edited by Dan Oates, retired and who now lives in Romney. He is a retired teacher from The WVA School for the Deaf and Blind. I am delighted that a Blue family member would like to visit this area. It was a wonderful area to grow up in the mountains. Edwin Blue may be able to obtain the email for Ephraim and perhaps you could contact him and perhaps meet. Good Luck and happy traveling. If I can be of further help contact me. Nancy Wade.
